Winner of the 2022 Lynn Slager Award
Ava vom Kleinen Fluss (Bento von der Kopperburg x Dixie vom Speidel)
Solms prize 1 j , Derby prize 1, HD A2, Fw V1 at the 2018 NADKC annual meeting.
Passing the Solms with a Prize I in her breed year to earn a Prize I j is proof of her intelligence and desire to please. Ava’s confirmation rating is full of her virtues without a single fault for a V1 female at the 2018 NADKC annual meeting. Ava is the perfect dog; she lacks a single fault. She is outstanding in the water and field, running and swimming all day long, breaking ice on duck hunts, and plowing through thorns in the field. She shifts into low gear for blood tracks, working at the pace of bloodhound. Ava is very calm in the house around our two young children and dogs. She rides with me in the front seat of my truck and sleeps next to our bed. Ava loves all dogs and children. Her calm temperament, high drive in the field and water, quick study and VI score at the NADKC annual meeting make Ava vom Kleinen Fluss the perfect mate for Xam II vom Entenpfuhler Forst.
Xam II vom Entenpfuhler Forst (Scout vom Entenpfuhler Forst x Vicky vom Neuarenberg)
Whelped in February 2016, Xam II – aka “Django” – has proven more than many other dogs at his age or ever will. In the 2017 season, he went from an outstanding looking puppy to Derby 1, Solms 1, VGP 1 (313 on a different continent and entirely strange settings and scents back in Germany), HN, LN and - based on his additional sporting activities in IPO - Passed the BH exam, which is an obedience qualifier for the IPO sport per se.
He was also the “SG-1 young male” at the Annual Meeting in 2017 and has achieved two “V-1” scores in the adult division since, once at the NADKC Annual Meeting 2018.
h scoring success allowed him to receive the “2017 Lynn Slager Award”. In 2018, he already continued by passing the BTR and in May, passing the 20 hour track under very hot and hard conditions back in Germany. At two years of age, he was therefore qualified for the Kleemann 2018. Based on a severe orthopedic hunting injury and subsequent surgery, he was unfortunately not able to participate in the Kleemann this year.
Despite that proven versatility, it is his unbelievable high drive and speed that make him not only a fantastic companion but the once-in-a-lifetime dog. Always interacting with his handler, this dog hunts at any range and distance by the wave of a hand.
In the past year, Django has proven his sharpness on predator game countlessly (raccoon and coyote). In Germany he has been exposed to boar multiple times. He brings everything one could hope for in a Deutsch Kurzhaar. As a daily companion at a veterinary hospital and in everyday life, he is exposed to other dogs and species, living in the house peacefully with a cat. Therefore, he rounds his hunting portfolio with a pleasant and very social every day compatibility.
As the sire of a large litter of 16 puppies in the fall, and another 6 pups in the spring, we have started seeing what he produces regarding physical attributes as well as hunting ability and drive. The results so far are very balanced and outstanding in the field making us more and more excited about this pairing.
